THE SLEEPER OF KEEP

I had a great time working on the sleeper keeper, the only problem was that we didn't have all the help we needed from the rest of the group. Which in the end hurt some things. I am proud of the work we did and it's unfortunate that it was knocked over by someone thus causing it to hurt our structure. :( but I'm glad we didn't give up when we had our difficulties.. especially on assembly day. It took allot of late nights throughout the week for us to meet our "schedule." I can say I learned allot from this project not only about the construction of a structure and that whole process, but about myself and others. I got to enjoy being inside the cabin and on top of the roof which is amazing. I definitely would have liked for it to stay up in front of Bemis for a little while longer. We wanted to donate the cabin to a homeless shelter but since it was ruined that won't happen. Overall, I think we did pretty good even though we left out some things and ran into some structural issues, such as our warped posts. It was a good experience and one i forget. it will be nice to watch the next year go through it and see what happens. even if you got credit for the class... i encourage you to take it.

THE MASK ON BEMIS

This is what bemis would look like with our mask on it. For the mask project I worked with AATIKA, TRAVIS, RODGE and CALLEN. I had fun working on the mask, the only problem was that we waited until the last minute to think of our connection system. We started ahead of everyone, just like with the keeper of sleep, and struggled to finish. At the time we didn't think of how important our connection system was going to be like Dave told us. But in the end I think we all learned something on wall systems and not to wait until the last minute on your connection system, that was until we did the same thing for the sleeper keeper.

SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

Does Bemis need an upgrade? I would have to agree. Although I like our building it is time for a change. There are too many leaks (right next to my desk) and the building does not know whether its hot or cold.
This 15,000 sq. ft. building to the left is going right nest to thier old archiecture building. The Woodbury University is making an expansion to the school. One in which will help the students out allot with space and learning techniques. They will have more space to pinup their work which will help them with desk crits. And we all know how much we like to get our desk crits.

FUTURE CITY & ARCHITECTURE

We've probably all seen I Robot and any other future movies, but is this really what people think our future of cities and architecture are going to look like. The future city image looks like candy land or something. And whats with all the building in the water? that scares me. do we really run out of room on the earth and now we have to start building in the water? whats next? Don't get me wrong, some of the buildings look cool but they also look like they are from space. Somebody please let me know what you think.

GOING GREEN

Going GREEN!! To the left is an image of the the "city's greenest building," the Queens Botanical Garden Visitor Center. The building, located in Flushing Queens, received the PLATINUM rating for LEED. For second year studio over spring break we had to chose a green building and do a building analysis on it on 11x17. this was the building I chose. Even though i didn't actually take a break spring spring break i enjoyed this project a lot! There is so much you can do to a building to make it GREEN. I enjoy learning about LEED and would like to actually become LEED certified some day. I really believe this can help out our economy. i feel that as Architects of the future, we should be all leaning towards this way. We already have noticed changes in the earth do to all the polluting and global warming going on.

GUGGENHEIM BILBAO MUSEUM

What to say about the Guggenheim. From this picture it is hard to tell what is going on because there is a lot, but whatever it is it looks awesome. if you look at the structure as a whole its easier, i think this part is a form of entry. The materials mesh together so nicely. This piece shows how far you can take creativity and design. You wouldn't think you could strucutre the glass the way it is. it looks like it is coming at you.

MUSIC CREATURE

Art is Architecture too. The title of this image is "music creature." I came upon this picture while I was working on a graphic design project. The project was to redesign a book cover, and I chose to redesign the book Experiencing Architecture by Steen Eiler Rasmussen. graphic design has helped me with studio alot and vice versa.
This creature looks so free flowing with its art and made me think of how free flowing architecture can be depending on where you take it to.
